A (t)Win-(t)Win Situation

Just yesterday, I was chatting with a friend and she reminded that I hadn't updated the blog for a while. Just casually, she mentioned that I had 2 Good Reasons to write. Duh!!

So with the kids - whom we codenamed R2 - who our friends and family fondly refer to with the moniker, turning a quarter of a year old, what better time to write something about them.

Here goes the quarterly results for R2, Inc.

With the twins at 3 months, we feel like we have already put in 6 months of work. While they grow up gracefully, the scene at home (at times) resembles a scene from The Walking Dead - you know, the one with Zombies and all..

Just kidding, both parents and all grandparents just resemble as if they walked with the Dinosaurs..

Again, just joking. I've got to stop with these co-relations :) Bad for investor relations.

It's been good times generally with a bad few days when the mood in the house had been somber due to the kids not feeling well and running high fever - after effects of vaccination injections.

They both started mouthing words which cannot be described and certainly cannot be found in the English language dictionary. Heck, I can't even type it. It sounds something like eyaiuaauoiou...They got the vowels right though.

It would be boring for their first words to be Mummy or Mamma. I personally would like them to yell "EUREKA" or my personal favorite "BAZINGA".

When you average out the decibel level of their cries, it might look like a good day at the office, but when you hear R1G roar, the sound from a Boeing 777 might seem like symphony orchestra. R1B gives us all chance to pacify him while R1G gets settled only in the company of a select few. My F-I-L is so good with them, he is nicknamed - The Baby Whisperer.

Photo sessions with them can sometimes be an assignment from Hell. Not even the bestest of cameras can capture a still - unblurry - photo if they are not in the mood. Just recently, they started looking at the camera lens of our smartphones thinking something is going to pop out of them. They have this "deer in the headlights" look when looking straight at the camera. Funny but a patience-tester. The good folks at the Passport office have clearly mandated that photos of babies less than 4 years of age must be brought by the parents - I am guessing this is from experience dealing with kids providing nightmarish photo-ops at the PP office. I pity the photographer who will be capturing the finest moments of R2 for their PPs. God Bless Him!

Sleeping habits are largely unchanged since birth. Long sleepless nights can be an equivalent of Daal-Chawal - as in a routine occurrence, while a comfortable night's sleep can only be compared to a full course meal including appetizer and dessert at Olive Garden (can't help it - it's one of my favorite restaurants). I, of course, get to enjoy the OG stuff most nights - a fact my burgeoning tummy will attest to - much to the displeasure of KiMo.

Clothes are changed at the drop of a hat - rules such as no diapers until after dinner time & only when going out of the house ensure that fire-drills can happen at any given time. Of course, I miss all the action 5 days a week due to my office (I am NOT complaining).

Food habits can be good some days and a scene from a horror movie the rest.

That said, I wouldn't change a thing about the past 3 months that have flown past us - well, except the days when the kids were not well. Life is tough with one kid, it more than doubles down with twins. But, they have been a blast to be with and look forward to some more glorious times with them.  We are blessed to have these 2 in our lives.

As I said before, it is a tWin-tWin situation for all!!

Here we go again!

Nearly seven and a half years since my last blog post, and now with the family in India (and me about to join them in a couple of weeks), I am reviving or at least attempting to revive, a passion of mine - blogging. So many things have changed since I last posted; parents visited twice (2016, 2019), in-laws visited once (2017), bought a house (2019), kids grew up (thank you Google photos for reminding us time to time what we created), re-connected with old friends, visited my brother (2021), changed jobs (2022), stayed State-side without a chance to visit India (until now) and of course, a world altering event in March of 2020 that brought everyone to their knees and reset how things are meant to be. While I am eternally grateful to have escaped Covid without any long term repercussions, especially with the family, near and dear ones, all in decent health - there were moments that were truly scary and confusing.  The kids, now 9.5 years old, have grown up so fast - and to see them do w

H_LL_ M_MB__ No, your eyes aren't playing tricks and this is definitely not my version of Wordle. If you are looking for the missing "A, E, I, O, and U" that make up the Hello Mumbai title of this blog, well, I got news for you. They have fallen in one of the million different roads that make up the potholes in dear old  Aamchi Mumbai . Hard-working Mumbaikars might as well hold their backs as they get off an auto or their choice of torture mumbling "AIYYO", day in and day out, to and from their place of business. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. I now think that the glitzy high-rises that dot the city's skyline is nothing more than a smokescreen to divert attention of the occupants of a vehicle to avoid looking down at the craters that might put their lives in jeopardy! Hell, screw the moon, ISRO can land the Chandrayaan-3 near Airoli, if it chooses to. Same difference! Rightfully so, we pride on the fact that cashless payments have made humongous strides to make pe

Sunday Night Update

Watched the first presidential debate on friday night between John McCain and Barack Obama. Good timepass on a friday night, if you are into these things. I have been taking a keen interest in politics lately and it keeps the clock ticking for me after I reach home from work.  I am particularly annoyed and irritated at both these candidates on the Iraq war for always ignoring the fact that over 100,000 Iraqis have lost their lives. What wrong did they do? And there aren't too many news outlets that are willing to show the plight of (Iraqi) families who lost near and dear ones. That's obvious, isn't it? Barack Obama looks confident and ready moreso that John McCain to lead the United States for the next 4 years. Looking forward to the Joe Biden - Sarah Palin debate this coming thursday. Should be interesting to see Palin talk extempore without a teleprompter.  Back to some sunday night news here. For the first time in few years since I started following football, I felt bore
