Nothing Special

Done with chores for the week. Much earlier than past weekends. Kirti comes home next week and stays till monday morning. Thats a small bonus from the last time she was here.

Weekdays at work were uneventful to say the least. Tanaya came to town and had dinner with her at Loring's (Italian place) at U of M. U of M is huge, similar to the other big names in the education business. Strangely enough, met her for the first time since 26th Aug, 2001. 6 and a half years later she hasn't changed much from how she was back then. Same cannot be said about me though. Sprained my back real bad last wednesday and had help from Mukesh and Sameer. The back pain is gone for now and I feel good.

Went to Mithil's place on saturday and had stomach full of dosas, sambhar and chutney. Saw Deev go through a whole range of emotions that a child could possess. In no particular order he was cranky, sleepy, crying, yelling, laughing, playing, talking to himself, feeding grapes to us and favoring Pepsi over V8. Wow..Thats a lot to do in 3 hours.

Saw Ghost Rider and Live Free or Die Hard and really those movies are Unbelievable. Would not spend money to watch those movies in a theater.

3 out of 4 bedbug treatments are done and coming friday will be the last one. Plunkett's and Georgetown Management will still pester me to fumigate my belongings. Time to search for affordable storage places nearby.

Sunday Night Update

Watched the first presidential debate on friday night between John McCain and Barack Obama. Good timepass on a friday night, if you are into these things. I have been taking a keen interest in politics lately and it keeps the clock ticking for me after I reach home from work.  I am particularly annoyed and irritated at both these candidates on the Iraq war for always ignoring the fact that over 100,000 Iraqis have lost their lives. What wrong did they do? And there aren't too many news outlets that are willing to show the plight of (Iraqi) families who lost near and dear ones. That's obvious, isn't it? Barack Obama looks confident and ready moreso that John McCain to lead the United States for the next 4 years. Looking forward to the Joe Biden - Sarah Palin debate this coming thursday. Should be interesting to see Palin talk extempore without a teleprompter.  Back to some sunday night news here. For the first time in few years since I started following football, I felt bore...

Writer's Block

It's been six months since I put pen to paper, rather, fingers to keyboard, to put up a blog post. Talk about a writer's block. Highlights of the hiatus include; - Rivika and Riaan turning 10. That they are unrecognizable now compared to their 1st or even 5th birthday shows Kirti and I how fast they have really grown. Fine little pre-teens they've become, with their varied interests in sports and dance leading to a hopefully and potentially fulfilling childhood and beyond. - A splendid trip to Cancun (Mexico) to ring in the kids' milestone birthday. - The hottest Christmas in recent memory (celebrated in Mexico, that is). A trip to the ruins of Chichen-Itza (these folks knew what they were doing, mighty impressive I say), a stroll through the city center of Valladolid (one might say the place bears a striking resemblance to Panjim (Goa)), a thrill-seeking dive through a Cenote, copious amounts of watered-down unlimited alcohol at an all-inclusive resort, which in itself...

Please Help

While I have been blogging for nearly 2 years now and that visitors (like you) are fairly low in number, I would still like to know who you are. Although I know one of my UA friend is a regular here (and yes, it is you Hari), I don't know who are the other frequent fliers. If you choose to remain anonymous, that is also fine, but kindly leave a comment or two in the message box that is on the right side of the webpage. I am trying to get a feel for how often do you stop by. The reason I am asking you to do this is because I need your help. No, it has nothing to do with donations or anything monetary, but here I am in my third month in Bangalore and I am absolutely bored. I need some suggestions to utilize my time efficiently and effectively. Please refrain from suggesting using the gym or joining a book club. These 2 are not my cuppa tea. My mind is 100% blank about extra-curricular activities and I need some 'external' help. One of my closest friends had suggested joining...
