That's the number of days I would have spent since February 12, 2010 up until May 18, 2012. That's been the amazing 2 year ride that I've had making some great friendships and forging some stronger ones. With "send off" parties from the group at work (Hospira guys, that is), K's friends from CVS and the Regulars (V, S, S, S, B, S + the kids), I am 5 days away from my flight to India.

Barbecue at V's place last night was a perfect ending to a nice time all along. From frozen margaritas to "smoking" hot corn, sweet potato fries, "grilled" pizzas, paneer tikkas, cake and Chocolate Mousse, an evening to remember and an investment (V's Weber Grill) worth the price. Too bad , we won't be around to experience the remaining delicacies on offer this summer.

I finally had the chance to complete the Architectural Tour of Chicago with my folks. An impromptu decision that worked out pretty well on Mother's Day. Happy Mom's Day to all those whose kids are giving them a tough time and a not so tough time.

All through these 2 years, some of the great times we've had were.

  • The trip to Sandusky, Ohio with Sam and Such (probably, the best vacation till date),
  • The Las Vegas 5th Wedding Anniversary trip,
  • 2010 July 4th Beach outing with Vaibhav, Shaily, Sharad and Sheetal,
  • 2010 Thanksgiving Trip to New York/New Jersey (while K was away in India),
  • Visit from Tanu, Amit and Sana in 2010,
  • The 2011 and 2012 Superbowl Party at Sharad's and Sheetal's (still sulking from the Patriots' loss to the Giants),
  • 2011 Memorial Day weekend with Sam, Such, Yogi and Anuja,
  • 2011 July 4th Weekend (again) at NY, NJ and PA,
  • Diwali Party at Brijesh's and Saritha's place,
  • An unforgettable and horribly tiring Orlando/Disney trip with Sam and Such in 2012
  • And most importantly, the arrival of Kuhu on March 21.

We will surely miss those grudgingly-agreed-to movies at the behest of V and Sharad (Battle: LA, Underworld: Evolution) and some pretty good times at dinner (with Sharad analyzing Agneepath as to why Kaancha(n) did some atrocious things to the innocent people of Mandwa), some of the never ending movie nights at V's place (watching The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and then watching the sequel to it just to end the curiosity). Above all, I am going to miss the SRK bashing that we did while watching the annoying RA ONE at Sharad's place. "Anything SRK" was good enough to light a match under our butts and we would go off like rocket launchers tearing into the "Badshah" with careless disregard.

There isn't much I have to share at this time with respect to anything, but I just wanted to say, this blog will still remain active from India so do check in from time to time.

I would stop the ramblings now, but I wanted to send out a special shoutout to K's friend Praveena, who has been a regular visitor to this blog for a while. And as always, Hi Tanu!!! - I am expecting couple of "Likes" here just for the shoutouts.

In closing, I am going to go overboard (my blog, my rules!!) with this song from Kishoreda;
Chalte chalte, mere yeh geet yaad rakhna....Kabhi alvida na kehna, kabhi alvida na kehna....

Till we meet again, Good Luck and God Speed.

Sunday Night Update

Watched the first presidential debate on friday night between John McCain and Barack Obama. Good timepass on a friday night, if you are into these things. I have been taking a keen interest in politics lately and it keeps the clock ticking for me after I reach home from work.  I am particularly annoyed and irritated at both these candidates on the Iraq war for always ignoring the fact that over 100,000 Iraqis have lost their lives. What wrong did they do? And there aren't too many news outlets that are willing to show the plight of (Iraqi) families who lost near and dear ones. That's obvious, isn't it? Barack Obama looks confident and ready moreso that John McCain to lead the United States for the next 4 years. Looking forward to the Joe Biden - Sarah Palin debate this coming thursday. Should be interesting to see Palin talk extempore without a teleprompter.  Back to some sunday night news here. For the first time in few years since I started following football, I felt bore...

Writer's Block

It's been six months since I put pen to paper, rather, fingers to keyboard, to put up a blog post. Talk about a writer's block. Highlights of the hiatus include; - Rivika and Riaan turning 10. That they are unrecognizable now compared to their 1st or even 5th birthday shows Kirti and I how fast they have really grown. Fine little pre-teens they've become, with their varied interests in sports and dance leading to a hopefully and potentially fulfilling childhood and beyond. - A splendid trip to Cancun (Mexico) to ring in the kids' milestone birthday. - The hottest Christmas in recent memory (celebrated in Mexico, that is). A trip to the ruins of Chichen-Itza (these folks knew what they were doing, mighty impressive I say), a stroll through the city center of Valladolid (one might say the place bears a striking resemblance to Panjim (Goa)), a thrill-seeking dive through a Cenote, copious amounts of watered-down unlimited alcohol at an all-inclusive resort, which in itself...

Please Help

While I have been blogging for nearly 2 years now and that visitors (like you) are fairly low in number, I would still like to know who you are. Although I know one of my UA friend is a regular here (and yes, it is you Hari), I don't know who are the other frequent fliers. If you choose to remain anonymous, that is also fine, but kindly leave a comment or two in the message box that is on the right side of the webpage. I am trying to get a feel for how often do you stop by. The reason I am asking you to do this is because I need your help. No, it has nothing to do with donations or anything monetary, but here I am in my third month in Bangalore and I am absolutely bored. I need some suggestions to utilize my time efficiently and effectively. Please refrain from suggesting using the gym or joining a book club. These 2 are not my cuppa tea. My mind is 100% blank about extra-curricular activities and I need some 'external' help. One of my closest friends had suggested joining...
